The Aetas are one of the poorest tribes in the Philippines. Many of them live in
the upland areas of Central Luzon doing hunting, gathering and planting. When Mt.
Pinatubo erupted in the 90s, many Aeta families lost their homes and were forced
to live in resettlement sites. They had a hard time assimilating and finding a
job with the lowlanders because majority of them were illiterate.
Today, many Aeta families remain in extreme poverty. Aeta people are considered a tribal minority.
Bimiana is a daughter of an Aeta farmer. They live in katutubo village in Porac Pampanga, an upland resettlement site. Bimiana is one the best students in their class (Second honor). She is a bright and her dream is to finish school and prove that the Aeta tribe can survive in the hinterlands and the lowlands thru the help of education.
Her parents are Benny Capuno and Marivic Capuno who works as a farmer with daily income amounting to P100. 00. She is Second among Six siblings and four of them are studying. She is a consistent honor student at Katutubo Village Elementary School. She wants to be a Newscaster someday.
