Mindoro Outreach, July 29,2012

Thank you very much for supporting Project Malasakit. Because of your donation, we were able to serve 100 Mangyan families and 100 Mangyan school children. We conducted the outreach project last July 29, 2012 at the foot of the mountains of Brgy Malo, Bansud, Mindoro Oriental.

Each child received school supplies (school bag, notebook, pencils, ballpen, crayons, ruler) toys, slippers and rubber shoes.

Each family also received a grocery pack which contains 2 kilos of rice, noodles, coffee, soap and shampoo. We also gave them old clothes and medicines such as multivitamins, paracetamol, ibuprofen, carbocisteine, phenylpropanolamine, oral rehydration salts, loperamide, etc. and also taught the children basic hygiene such as tooth brushing.

After the gift-giving and medical mission, we threw a party for the mangyans. Pancit, hotdog on stick and juice were served. The children were also given toys and everyone was able to participate in the parlor games. Even the older Mangyans participated and had a lot of fun.

A total of 13 volunteers travelled from Manila to Mindoro to help out in the gift giving activity. The local government of Bansud and the regional DOH office likewise helped in providing medical assistance.

The mangyans were truly very happy with this special experience. We hope we could continue our partnership in empowering communities through our outreach work.

Muli, maraming salamat po sa inyong Malasakit. God bless you!
